California

Before 1900 and into the 1920's California was a booming part of the United States.  In this collection of original hand-colored antique architectural plans and prints, gelatines, lithographs, and photogravures of houses, churches, and buildings in California, one can see the range of building activity taking place in the state.  Famous Eastern architects, such as Cram, Goodhue and Ferguson were designing buildings and Western architects, such as A. Page Brown, Bliss and  Faville were developing a new style suited to the climate and temperament of the West.
