Knollwood Cemetery Station and Administrative Building, Sharon/Canton, MA
From the American Architect and Building News, August 27, 1898. 13.25 by 17.75 inches. VG+.
Hand-colored Original Plan. Knollwood Memorial Park was founded in 1898 by a group of people with a vision of a modern garden-style cemetery that would serve the residents of Eastern Massachusetts. Centrally located in an idyllic setting overlooking the Neponset Valley in Canton, Massachusetts, Knollwood's location on 340 acres was carefully selected for it's natural beauty. Although it is one of New England's oldest and largest memorial parks, Knollwood is a modern, well designed cemetery with exquisitely manicured grounds. Distinctive works of Carerra marble sculptures and statuary provide visitors with inspiring settings while flowering trees and a myriad of floral plantings serve as a lovely haven that comforts those who come to remember their loved ones. Knollwood is a nonsectarian cemetery that serves all faiths and reflects the community. The beauty of its grounds and the continuous dedication to honoring the memory of loved ones has made Knollwood Memorial Park the premier non-sectarian memorial park in New England. This picture is extremely hard to find, as the American Architect and Building News not only had a very small circulation during that time, but very few were actually preserved or colored as this has been. It measures 13.25 by 17.75 inches. LARGE PICTURE. Has a mat border and foam core backing (not attached to the picture). The whole plan measures approximately 15 by 20 inches (with mat border). Finely detailed and beautifully hand-colored. Shrink wrapped. Plan is in VG condition with light browning along the edges and some light crinkling.
