Framing Information

Congregational Church, Winona, MN
Unknown, architect(s). From the American Architect and Building News, 1884. 9 by 12 inches . VG condition with some light browning around the edges .
Duotone Steel Engraving. The Congregational Church was erected in 1880-82 and was built of dolomitic limestone quarried at Winona. It has trimmings of Fond du Lac sandstone, except the carved capitals at the door-corners, which are from Frontenac. The front steps are from Kasota. This picture is extremely hard to find. The Minnesota Geological Survey had a very small circulation during this time and these original steel engravings only appeared in a very limited number of issues that were distributed to a few prominent architects. It measures 9 by 12 inches (without border). Has a mat border and foam core backing (not attached to the picture). The whole picture measures approximately 13 by 16 inches (with border). Extraordinary detail in this early photographic print. Shrink wrapped.
